The grouping of distribution U system is going to abandon the use of the aspartame in all the soft drink sold under its brand, from January 2012, announced on Wednesday his president Serge Papin. This decision follows upon the anxieties of the European Authority of safety of food ( EFSA) on the effects of this artificial sweetener. It is the first time which a manufacturer communicates on the desolation of this controversial sweetener, which will be replaced by Stevia, a sort of herb containing natural sweeteners.
